Every once in a while I get a crazy idea and end up creating a product that I…L-O-V-E!  One of these wonderful events happened recently as I was brainstorming product ideas for holiday themed gift baskets.  I wanted to offer a couple yummy lip balms to the assortment of lotions and bath products.  I came up with peppermint mocha (with real cocoa!) and vanilla chai (featuring my new found obsession vanilla-infused jojoba oil).  It’s always a gamble when formulating new recipes and I was overjoyed when not one, but BOTH turned out amazing on the first go!  As a bonus I made sure they were extra nourishing to soothe dry and chapped winter lips.  So in the spirit of giving, I want to share these recipes with you.  Happy Holidays and enjoy! :)

Peppermint Mocha Lip Balm

Makes: 8-10 lip balm tubes

INGREDIENTS:
  • 3 Tbsp. sweet almond oil
  • 1 ½ Tbsp. beeswax
  • 1 Tbsp. cocoa butter
  • 1 tsp. cocoa powder
  • 6 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 4 drop s coffee essential oil

TO MAKE:
Using a glass jar in a pan of simmering water, gently heat sweet almond oil, beeswax, cocoa butter, and cocoa powder until melted and combined.  Remove from heat and cool slightly before adding the essential oils.  Pour into lip balm tubes and cool completely.
