First a little bit of background...
They claim that each batch of essential oil is put through a 5-step testing process before it makes it to the market, in the case of blends this process is repeated again as a whole. I could not however find specific results of this testing, such as GC/MS reports, available to the public for reviewing.
When it comes to product info sheets and labeling I was impressed: each bottle’s ingredients are clearly listed by both common name and Latin binomial, important information such as cautions were present either online or the packaging itself, all usage recommendations were thorough and appeared to follow general safety guidelines. All webpages pertaining to essential oils and product info guides contain the following safety disclaimer:
“For external use only, not for consumption. Keep out of reach of children and pets. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician. Possible skin sensitivity. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, mucous membranes and sensitive areas. Do not use on dry, damaged or sun-exposed skin. Flammable.”
Now onto the essential oils...
Their lavender essential oil comes in a 15ml bottle which is pretty standard. I found the aroma to be quite comparable to the many Lavender oils I have purchased from other companies. It Works! promotes their lavender essential oil primarily for calming and relaxation by diffusing or applying topically (diluted in their FCO) to pulse points.
BOOM! Essential Oil Blend
This blend (which happens to be in my desktop diffuser right now) is a combination of: orange, grapefruit, lemon, mandarin, spearmint and tangerine. I really love this blend and find it similar to either Simply Citrus by Edens Garden or Citrus Burst by Plant Therapy, both of which I really love to. It will be nice to have another favorite citrus combo to throw into my rotation in switching things up. It Works! promotes their BOOM! blend as an energy boost whenever you need it.
DEFEND! Essential Oil Blend
This blend is similar to a thieves-type blend containing: orange, clove, cinnamon leaf, eucalyptus, cinnamon bark, lemon, and rosemary. I would use this blend with caution as it contains a significant amount of hot oils that may cause skin irritation and also ones that are contraindicated for use with children. It Works! is promoting this blend in the fight against germs mainly by diffusion. Topical application is also suggested, but I would advise consumers to use with caution and definitely do a patch test first (which they also suggest and describe how-kudos to them!).
CHILL! Essential Oil Blend
This blend contains: lavindin, grapefruit, clary sage, copaiba, and orange. The aroma is quite herby to me, not as quite citrusy as I would like, though still pleasing. It Works! is promoting this blend for relaxation or “chilling” as the name would suggest by diffusing it or an aromatic massage (properly diluted with their FCO).
CLEAR! Essential Oil Blend
This blend contains: eucalyptus globulus, peppermint, cypress, may chang, myrtle, ciliment, eucalyptus radiata, and elemi. Wow..have you ever heard of a scent so strong you could see it?! This would be it, as it surely lives up to its name. Not surprisingly, It Works! promotes this blend for clearing both congestion and the mind, helping one to breath and focus in many aspects. This blend, though highly affective, I would use with caution. I would be very cautious of applying it topically, unless at a rather low dilution in a chest rub or something similar. For diffusion, I would recommend not using near children as essential oils such a peppermint, rosemary, and eucalyptus have been shown to cause respiratory distress in infants and young children.
